To decide who advances.

Unless I am reading the tiebreaker criteria incorrectly, that will be the case.

Tiebreaker criteria for group stages is:

1) head to head result

2) Goal differential

3) Goals scored

4) Penalty kicks in final group match

5) Fair play results

6) Draw lots.

correct, PKs since they are playing each other and no one else is impacted. Wish they played ET first though.

Czechs have not impressed me at all yet. They were relatively lucky to beat the Swiss in my opinion and were totally outclassed by Portugal (despite POR's atrocious set-piece defense, which is another topic).

Koller looks like the walking dead out there and has had a subzero impact. Would be shocked if he saw the pitch again. Baros is also old and out of his element.

Turkey seemed to be crashing to the exits but showed great guts and resolve to rally against the home Swiss. I think their confidence and momentum will be at a high and like them to go through.

If not, I will be fading CZE the rest of the way.

question--> how does it even get to tiebreaker number five or six?
like, is it something like five PKs each and that's it?
i'd presume they PK until someone wins...but i don't understand how there could be tiebreakers after that.

It only goes to a PK if the two teams in question are playing each other in their final game. Like say Turkey/CZE played today and tied, and then Turkey had their game against Switz and CZE had their game against Portugal in the next day of Group 1 matches. As long as those games all went the same way they did today CZE and Turkey couldn't go to a PK because they already played each other, so they would then go to tiebreaker 5 or 6.

What Chase said,
which would make it kinda messed up if they went that far and weren't playing.
Comes down to fair play, which basically mean "sportsmanship" for us Americans. Less fouls and cards.
